In 2010 Flash Comics #1 sold for what was, at the time, the second-largest amount of any comic book ever. The comic was in fantastic condition, considering its age, due to its commercial artists and avid comic book collectors, Edgar Church’s storage techniques. The majority of the best quality Golden Age comics in the world come from his collection. The first issue of Stan Lee’s and Jack Kirby’s “X-Men” series sold for $492,937.50 in 2012. It debuted appearances from mutants like Cyclops, Beast and Magneto. X-Men went on to become a huge success, creating multiple cartoons and movies, adored by millions of fans around the world.

There have been many Green Lanterns from Earth, Jon Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner… but the first and best is Hal Jordan. Initially written as a straight arrow, Hal had some revamps to his character over the years and became something of a rebellious figure. One of the few to stand up to the Guardians of the Universe, Hal is seen among the Lanterns as someone who disobeys orders, but is generally trying to do the right thing. On Earth, he is a respected member of the Justice League, but frequently locks horns with Batman whose style clashes with Hal’s. Hal’s greatest failure came when he was driven mad by the destruction of his hometown and he lashed out at the Lantern Corps, destroying them. It was later revealed that he had been possessed by the fear entity known as Parallax, and his actions were not his own. Despite this, many people still didn’t trust him and he fought hard to regain his reputation as well as repent for what he did while influenced by Parallax. His story is often one of redemption.

Chip Zdarksy’s Daredevil run has been one for the books. Combined with the incredible art from Marco Checcetto, Zdarsky has taken Matt Murdock back to basics, even handing over the mantle of Daredevil to his on-again, off-again love interest Elektra. Devil’s Reign is the Daredevil-centric Marvel event of the year and serves to bookend Zdarksy’s run, which started in 2020. The author does a great job of showing the ripple effects across the Marvel universe after New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. The Kingpin, declares war on the superhero community. That includes calling in a new team of Thunderbolts and putting some of the city’s biggest villains in charge. Checcetto’s art, like always, is action-packed, emotive, and really captures the street side of NYC. Read even more information at https://onlinecomicbookstore.com/.
