Book publishing advices

Book distribution tricks for unknown and established authors? Make Friends: Yes, writing tends to be a solitary activity, but rubbing elbows with other authors and professionals in the writing community can have some big perks. They may be willing to give you endorsements for your book or help get the word out. You’ll also want to make friends with the booksellers at your local independent bookstore and the librarians in your local library. These people are very influential when it comes to recommending your book to readers and helping you grow your audience. Book people are the best people, and it never hurts to know as many as possible.

Linked In: Develop a presence at the place for professionals to develop business contacts. Discuss topics with other authors and small publishers. Company Logo: Have a logo designed for your publishing company. Place it on every piece of correspondence, your web page and on social networking sites to spread the word. Create a Website: Obtain a domain name for your company, book title or your name. Have a website created that showcases information about your book, including excerpts, an image of your book cover and a way for book orders to be submitted back to you via the web. We recommend a company like American Author.com who can do the setup work for you.

Use your limits. Self-published author and founder of ALLi (Alliance for Independent Authors) Orna Ross told us that the key to productivity is to use the limits that life imposes on you: “If you say to someone ‘here’s a blank page, go write something,’ you’re frozen. The limit allows you to do it… People who think they could write if their circumstances are otherwise—that’s wrong thinking. You finish after a few hours anyway.”
